In Cagliari, local police discovered 39 total evaders of the Tari (municipal waste tax) between January and June, and issued 44 fines in the last month, from June to early July.
Furthermore, in six months, the activity to combat the phenomenon of waste abandonment resulted in 351 fines, 152 of which were for irregularities in disposal.
In about ten cases, the amounts to be paid reach one thousand euros. The Urban Hygiene Service has received over 200 reports on the toll-free number 800533122, which is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
However, there were 448 interventions for the removal of abandoned waste, for which the local police were unable to identify the perpetrators.
"The goal remains to combat and reduce inappropriate behavior," explains Luisa Giua Marassi , Councilor for Soil Hygiene and Waste Management, "but also and above all to recognize the commitment of citizens and the businesses that, every day, by respecting the rules, contribute to making our city more beautiful."
According to the data released this morning by the Municipality , among the reports compiled for incorrect waste disposal, the number of commercial and artisan activities sanctioned stands out (27), while among the waste disposals with methods, days and times different from those indicated in the calendar, those towards private individuals or condominiums are increasing (86).
Twelve tickets were issued for violations such as soiling, four for dog owners (out of the 123 checked): three for not having bags to collect dog waste, one for not having a microchip.
