Colonia Hotel Srl, the concessionaire of the former Marino Hospital complex in Cagliari, has filed a formal complaint with the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office. A press release states, "The complaint is directed against the authors, some of whom are known, of publications and statements that appeared on June 15 and 16, 2026, in a local newspaper and on its social media channels. These statements, deemed grossly false, defamatory, and unfairly disruptive to the legitimate operation of the business, regarding ongoing activities at the concession site. These statements emphatically allege the destruction of swallow, house martin, or similar nests, which, in reality, according to documentary evidence, did not even exist on the property."

"These false reports," the statement continues, "have led to multiple visits to the construction site by both the Forestry Corps and the local police, who, to date, have found nothing of the presence of swallow nests or their remains. Today, along the lines of what was published last month, a WWF statement was issued, this time mentioning pallid swifts, also non-existent at the facility, whose fate would be jeopardized by the start of construction. And some local media outlets have joined in the chorus, without any verification of the facts. The company reserves the right to take further legal action to protect its honor, its commercial reputation, and the proper operation of its business."
