Twelve ambulances lined up, a long line of vehicles blocking the entrance to the emergency room at Cagliari's Brotzu Hospital . This is the scene repeated today in front of the city's main healthcare facility. One of the ambulances has been idle since 10:00 a.m.

The situation is challenging inside the hospital: 15 patients are coded orange, 8 are coded blue, 10 are coded green, and 3 are coded white. At the Santissima Trinità hospital, the pressure is more moderate, with 2 coded orange, 8 are coded blue, 5 are coded green, and 1 are coded white. At the Monserrato hospital, there are no red codes, but 2 are coded orange, 10 are coded blue, and 3 are coded green.

A problem which – as mentioned – is not new : the 118 crews remain blocked until the patients are taken into care, with inevitable delays and difficulties for the emergency service.
