Cagliari, CGIL pensioners take to the streets: "This is an unfair measure, it's making everyone's lives worse."

Pensioners are taking to Piazza del Carmine in Cagliari to protest the Meloni government's budget, ahead of the general strike on December 12th. "We support the strike because this budget penalizes pensioners and future generations," said Lorenzo Mazzoli, national representative of the SPI CGIL. "With low wages and uneven career paths, there's a risk that after 45 years of contributions, a pension will be less than €1,000: a huge warning sign."
Among the CGIL's demands: the restitution and elimination of fiscal drag, a more equitable tax reform, and real investments in healthcare and industrial policies.
"Today, six million Italians are forgoing medical care. With pensions so low, they have to choose between eating, heating, or paying for private visits. Those in government can't ignore this," Mazzoli added.
The regional secretary of the Spi CGIL, Giacomo Migheli, calls for an immediate correction to the plan: "We need an increase for all pensions and the introduction of a fourteenth month's salary of up to €1,000. Inflation affects everyone, and in Sardinia, 17.2% of people, especially pensioners, forgo healthcare: a very serious situation."
