Cagliari celebrates a new centenarian. Raffaelina Aurora Belfiori , who was greeted by the City Council in a simple yet meaningful ceremony, marked the occasion.
City Council President Marco Benucci visited the centenarian and presented her with a commemorative medal and parchment on behalf of Mayor Massimo Zedda and the entire city.
Born in Marseille on April 11, 1926 , Raffaelina Aurora Belfiori built a large, close-knit family over time. Married to Giuseppe, now deceased, she is the mother of Salvatore, Rosaria, and Luigi. She is also surrounded by her four grandchildren, Anna, Daniele, Giuseppe, and Natasha, and her great-grandchildren, Elisa, Massimiliano, Marta, and Davide. She worked for the Regional Government and the Court of Auditors, but it was during the most difficult years of the Second World War that one of the brightest aspects of her character emerged: distributing bread to those in need. A concrete gesture, which conveys the meaning of her generosity.
"Celebrating Mrs. Belfiori's centenary means paying homage to a woman and her story, one of solidarity, dignity, and community ," commented Benucci. "Her example, especially in the most difficult moments of our history, reminds us how important small gestures of mutual help are."
