Not good, but not too bad either. The temporary market in Piazza Nazzari is operating with the handbrake on. The quality of the products and the professionalism of the stallholders are the same as those at San Benedetto, even if not everyone seems to appreciate the new setup. The history remains the same, but the operators have managed to transfer the atmosphere, the smells, and the aromas of the former municipal facility, closed in March for renovations. Not even the tourists are arriving as they once did: anyone who searches for "San Benedetto market" on Google finds "closed." And goodbye to the visit.

The blessed mistral wind is making its presence felt in Piazza Nazzari. The wind carries away the heat, but not a hint of discontent. "It's not going very well, but we're holding on," comments Marcello Usai, from the butcher's counter at stall A10. "Business here has dropped by at least 20 percent compared to the old San Benedetto market." There's no shortage of hassles. "Customers complain about the elevators leading to the parking lots: they're often out of order. Not only that, but on some days, with the rising sun, the smell of fish is really strong." The watchword is not to give up. "Luckily, those who know us have followed us because they know that this place is home to the finest products."
