Cagliari, blackout at Santissima Trinità: disruptions and a generator out of order.
The Local Health Authority (ASL) said: "There will be no repercussions for hospitalized patients." However, some ambulances have been diverted to Brotzu. Cugliara (FIALS): "This is a recurring problem; we must ensure the facilities remain operational: a prolonged shutdown would cause chaos."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Power outages and disruptions at Cagliari's Santissima Trinità hospital. Again, within a few weeks. The disruption, 118 operators confirmed, impacted the management of patient flow to the emergency room: some ambulances were diverted to Brotzu to ensure care while waiting for normal working conditions to be restored at Is Mirrionis.
The problem emerged in the early afternoon, between 1 and 3 PM. "There was an interruption in Enel's electricity supply," confirmed ASL 8, which manages the healthcare facility.
A statement from the company's offices continues, "Technical office staff intervened immediately and the Ares Sardegna energy manager was notified."
To ensure continuity , "the generators that power emergency units such as operating rooms and intensive care units were activated. All departments, including the emergency room, remained operational during the power outage, and no problems were reported for hospitalized patients." However, some people did not enter the hospital.
The drop in voltage, the ASL continues, "caused damage to a generator set which will be promptly replaced."
This isn't the first time the Is Mirrionis hospital has faced power outages: in mid-November, the lights suddenly went out, causing delays in scheduled visits. The emergency protocol was activated on that occasion as well, and the problem was resolved within hours. "And it went well," reflects the provincial secretary of FIALS, Paolo Cugliara, "but the repeated blackouts necessitate a review of the hospital's overall electrical system and its connection to the grid. We can't rely on the expertise of those who patch the holes and intervene in an emergency: Cagliari's healthcare facilities are suffering under normal conditions," concludes the union representative, "so imagine what could happen if a power outage were to continue for longer."
