The long-awaited reopening of Piazza Matteotti has arrived, after two years of work. Today the finishing touches continued inside the construction site, which has officially concluded: this afternoon the barriers were removed, with the area returned to the city, to the people of Cagliari and to tourists. With the latter who will also have a dedicated passage, because the safe pedestrian crossing has been completed - with traffic lights - from the sidewalk on the port side to the one on the Arst station side, which will then lead to the square.

This morning, workers paved the stretch of road in front of the CTM shelter and cleaned the square. In the meantime, the last documents to allow the reopening have also arrived, after the tests had been carried out previously. This afternoon the green light was given .

The fountains, one of the new features of the square, are also in operation in the section in front of the entrance to the Town Hall . The project, an integral part of the 7 million contract that also includes Via Roma, involved the renovation of the utilities, the installation of a new lighting system and the overall redevelopment of the area.

As for traffic, for the moment we are proceeding with the one already in force for years . That is, with access permitted only to public transport. But the Municipality is considering what changes to make, also in consideration of the construction site in the second part of Via Roma after the reopening of the first section which took place last month .
