Attempted robbery at a supermarket yesterday evening, on Viale Monastir in Cagliari.
According to the reconstruction, the criminal, a 47-year-old local man already known to law enforcement , attempted to leave the business without paying for some groceries, worth over one hundred euros. When discovered by the business manager, he reacted violently, shoving her in an attempt to escape.
The presence of an off-duty police officer inside the store proved providential. He noticed what was happening and intervened quickly, managing to stop the intruder before he could disappear.
Shortly thereafter, officers from the Mobile Radio Section arrived on site and took charge of the 47-year-old and completed their investigations.
Once the incident was reconstructed and the formalities were completed, the man, who faces charges of attempted robbery, was taken to his home and placed under house arrest, pending trial in a fast-track trial scheduled by the Judicial Authority for this morning.
