On Thursday, April 23, at 4:00 PM, the exhibition "Despite the Long Time Elapsed... The Nazi-Fascist Massacres in the War of Liberation 1943-1945" will open at the "Il Ghetto" Municipal Art Center, located at Via Santa Croce 18, Cagliari. The exhibition was organized by the Defense General Staff and the Military Prosecutor General's Office at the Military Court of Appeal, under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic. The Municipality of Cagliari, through Councilor for Culture Maria Francesca Chiappe, supported the initiative.
Photographs, documents, and video footage describe one of the most complex and painful events in our national history.
The exhibition illustrates the stages of the long and painful journey of building the Italian Republic, undertaken by tens of thousands of Italian civilians and soldiers, who through their sacrifice laid the foundations for the establishment of our current republican and democratic state.
The exhibition concludes with a section dedicated to the trials held in Italian military tribunals against German war crimes from the postwar period to the present (1949-2013). These attempts—albeit partial and largely belated—have been made to affirm the principles of war crimes law.
