Moments of fear this morning in via Efisio Cao di San Marco, in Cagliari, where a 37-year-old pregnant woman had anaphylactic shock after smelling a perfume , losing consciousness and going into respiratory distress.

Her life was saved by the timely intervention of two pharmacists, Alessandro Ballicu , from the Ecopharm Parapharmacy, and Paolo Pisano , from the pharmacy of the same name in via Dante.

Barbara Porcu , 37, a mother of three and expecting her fourth, told UnioneSarda.it what happened. "I was in a shop and, because I have allergies, I accidentally smelled a perfume . One of those things that sometimes you do without thinking. Then, when I got back out on the street, I felt sick. I was in anaphylactic shock, I was struggling to breathe and my throat started to swell. Luckily, after the alarm, two doctors from the nearby pharmacies intervened promptly and gave me first aid. Then the 118 ambulance arrived and I was taken to the Santissima Trinità hospital in red code ."

"When I recovered, I was told that I was saved by a hair's breadth ," adds the 37-year-old, " and that the intervention of the two pharmacists first and then of the 118 staff was decisive. I want to thank everyone: if I can continue to be a mother, it is thanks to them."

"When the lady felt ill, I immediately notified Dr. Pisano, who has a pharmacy near ours - explains Dr. Ballicu - and together we were the first to intervene. The arrival of the 118 staff was also fundamental, who administered cortisone to the lady, as is done in these cases. Luckily, she managed to recover. This is evidence of how important it is in these cases, in addition to timeliness, also collaboration, something that is not to be taken for granted - unfortunately - these days" .
