A treasure trove of €7.1 million . This is how much the Municipality of Cagliari collected from motorists' fines in 2025. This figure emerges from Facile.it's elaborations on SIOPE data (Information System on Public Entity Operations).

The total revenue declared by the Sardinian provincial capitals alone amounts to 11.2 million euros, compared to 7.5 in 2024: an amount that has increased by approximately 50% .

Cagliari, with over €7 million, leads the rankings, with a clear advantage over Sassari (€2.2 million) . They are followed by Oristano (€1.1 million), Nuoro (€647,000), and Carbonia (€242,000) .

Even considering the ratio between citizens and revenue, Cagliari remains at the top with a "per capita fine" of 48 euros. Followed by Oristano (36), Nuoro (19), Sassari (18) and Carbonia (9).

Expanding the analysis to include smaller municipalities, Monastir stands out: 4,718 residents and a whopping €2.9 million in fines, more than Sassari and Nuoro combined . Villasimius, with a population of 3,721, collected nearly €428,000 in fines. Castiadas, with nearly €308,000, ranks third among municipalities with fewer than 5,000 residents.
