A water main was damaged during work to renovate the power grid, leaving part of the San Benedetto neighborhood without water. Significant disruption has been experienced since yesterday in the center of Cagliari, after a water main burst during work to install new underground power lines on Via Petrarca—near the traffic light at the intersection of Via San Benedetto and Via Pergolesi.
Hundreds of customers have been without water for about 24 hours. This isn't the first time that the same stretch of water has been without water, as another break occurred in recent months on Via Petrarca. Repair work is scheduled to begin this morning, with specialized companies working on the asbestos-cement pipe.
To ensure safety and limit disruptions, the water supply has been temporarily suspended in Via Petrarca and the surrounding streets: including Via Machiavelli, Via Tasso, Via Pascoli, the adjacent stretch of Via Dante and the stretch of Via San Benedetto .
Abbanoa confirms its commitment to keeping the interruption to a minimum and to restart the water flow as soon as the repairs are completed. This may even be earlier than initially planned, if technical conditions allow . Upon restoration, there may be problems with water pressure and turbidity.
