Work continues to secure Via Flavio Gioia, a major thoroughfare connecting Cagliari and Pirri, a hub for services and businesses in the Cep neighborhood.
The project, which begins with the upgrade of the bike path—it will be bidirectional, 2.5 meters wide, on the right side of the road towards Pirri —will provide the same current number of parking spaces in both directions, no central curb, and the same two lanes for vehicular traffic, each 3.5 meters wide.
As Mayor Massimo Zedda explained to the City Council in response to a comment from Councilor Ferdinando Secchi (FdI), the project is based on the new Highway Code.
The road will be reshaped by simply moving the center line. Before the new signs are installed, new asphalt will also be laid to ensure the safety of cars and pedestrians crossing from one sidewalk to the other.
