They've made helping a lifelong mission, lending a helping hand to lonely and disadvantaged children. They've taken in minors with severe disabilities and migrants, and every week they assist girls forced into street prostitution.

Now, however, Barbara Aresu and Roberto Vargiu , who have been running the "Madonna della Tenerezza" family home since 2010, are asking for support. Soon, after ten years, they will no longer have a place to stay and are launching a call for a property to rent or lease.

"For 30 years," they explain, "we have opened our doors to those who no longer had anyone, making hospitality our life's work. Since 2010, ours has been one of over 500 reception centers of the Papa Giovanni XXIII Community in Italy."

Today, due to circumstances beyond their control, they have to move. "For over a year, we've been searching for new accommodation in Cagliari and the surrounding area, to no avail. Not just any house : we need a home free of architectural barriers, with at least four bedrooms, a living room, an eat-in kitchen, and a bathroom equipped for people with disabilities. These are all essential features because our daughters use wheelchairs and require ongoing medical and rehabilitation care."

Their extended family includes their 17-year-old adopted son and three girls with severe disabilities. Two are thirteen and one is twenty-one: "For us, they are truly our daughters. We have three other biological children who are now adults and living away from home, but the desire to start a family has never stopped: it has only grown. Over these thirty years, more than forty people, mostly children, have shared their lives with us."

Hence the appeal: "If we find nothing here, the only option left for us will be to move out of the region. Our needs aren't just housing, but also finding homes in places with a suitable hospital and the services our daughters need . We would be forced to leave Sardinia forever: our land, the people we know, the network we've built over thirty years. We would do it, if necessary, just to continue providing a roof and a family for our daughters, but we'd really like not to have to."

We're reaching out to anyone—individuals, organizations, institutions, real estate agencies—for help finding, whether for loan or rent, a home in Cagliari or the surrounding area that can accommodate our daughters with all the care they need. We're not asking for a miracle: we're asking for an opportunity, a door that will open for us once again, like so many others we've opened over the past thirty years.
