Carabinieri officers from Cagliari and Quartu were mobilized during the New Year's Eve celebrations to ensure local security overnight.
The military personnel from the stations of Sant'Avendrace, Pirri, and San Bartolomeo and, in Quartu, from Selargius, Sestu and Sinnai were in action.
The Carabinieri officers carried out numerous checks: over 100 people were checked and around forty vehicles were inspected.
In Cagliari, soldiers from the Company Command's Mobile Radio Section reported a 43-year-old foreign worker for resisting a public official.
The man, arrested after a trivial argument, refused to provide his personal details during identification procedures. Subsequently, under the influence of alcohol, he attempted to attack the Carabinieri officers who were trying to calm him down. The man was taken to the station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in Elmas, Carabinieri from the Sant'Avendrace station reported a 50-year-old man for unauthorized possession of altered keys or lock picks. During a checkpoint, the man was found in possession of a crowbar without providing adequate explanation for its possession.
