After three escapes in less than a week and as many damages to his electronic bracelet, a 47-year-old man from Cagliari has been arrested and remanded in prison.
The man, unemployed and already known to the police, was arrested at dawn today by the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Cagliari Provincial Command , in execution of a court order that revoked his house arrest, which was now deemed inadequate.
The violations date back to July 16, 19, and 21, when the man was caught outside his home in clear violation of the restrictions.
On all three occasions he also allegedly tampered with and rendered unusable the electronic surveillance device, thus also constituting the crime of damaging state property.
Given the repeated failure to comply with the imposed provisions, the judicial authorities deemed it necessary to impose more stringent measures, deeming house arrest no longer adequate to contain the risk of absconding or recidivism.
The man was then transferred to Uta prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office.
