Flying Squad officers made the discovery. Two hundred blocks of hashish were seized. If sold, the drug could have fetched over €200,000.The State Police arrested a 54-year-old man from Cagliari on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
The investigation was led by the "Falchi" of the Flying Squad, who arrested the man in the Is Mirrionis neighborhood after gathering evidence of his possible involvement in an illegal drug dealing activity.
During searches of his home, 200 blocks of hashish, weighing approximately 100 grams each, were found hidden inside a refrigerator. The packages were packaged in silver and marked with the orange word "Papaya" and an image of the fruit. The drugs—weighing nearly 21 kilograms in total and potentially worth over €200,000—were seized, while the man was arrested and, by order of the judicial authorities, placed under house arrest. After a validation hearing, he was remanded in custody, with his subsequent transfer to the Uta penitentiary.
