A dishonest housekeeper allegedly stole €405 in cash from the home where she worked. A 60-year-old woman from Cabras was arrested by the Carabinieri two days ago. The arrest was confirmed in court, the woman was released, and the judge ordered her to sign in pending a fast-track trial.

The story

An elderly woman had recently noticed that some of the money she had been keeping in various rooms of her home was missing. Last Friday, however, a bag containing 80,000 euros disappeared, at which point the woman decided to contact the Carabinieri. The officers conducted a thorough inspection, photographed and marked all the banknotes, then waited for the 60-year-old to finish her workday. Once outside, they stopped her for a routine check, and during the search, they found approximately 100 euros on her person, with another 305 euros hidden in the pockets of her cooler. All the banknotes bore the identifying marks that the Carabinieri used to arrest the housekeeper.

The 60-year-old woman, with no criminal record, represented by lawyer Fabio Costa, appeared before Judge Serena Corrias , who confirmed the arrest. The woman chose not to answer the judge's questions, who, at the request of prosecutor Daniela Caddeo, ordered her to sign the affidavit. The defense requested time to examine the documents and evaluate their strategy; the trial was adjourned until Thursday the 24th. Meanwhile, the Carabinieri of the Oristano Company are continuing their investigation to try to recover the elderly woman's missing money; additional money has reportedly been found at the 60-year-old's home.
