There are those who were present on various portals such as Subito or Booking but did not pay the tourist tax to the Municipality. But also those who worked at full speed thanks to word of mouth, without therefore appearing on any website. In that way, obviously, the data were not communicated even to the police headquarters, as required by law. Stop black tourism: the Guardia di Finanza has moved from words to deeds.

To date, the Guardia di Finanza has already discovered about thirty structures in the Sinis that were operating without respecting the law . But there are still investigations underway on other different activities including holiday homes, guest houses and Bed & Breakfasts. This is the first important result of the memorandum of understanding signed a year ago between the mayor of Cabras Andrea Abis and Colonel Giancarlo Sulsenti, provincial commander of the Guardia di Finanza. The aim was to strengthen the system of prevention of illicit behaviour, with the start of a more careful control activity.

"These numbers that come to us from the Guardia di Finanza command," explains Abis, "tell us that we are finally blocking people who do not respect the rules . It is important that our tourism is sustainable and ethical, that no regular business should suffer from the unfair competition of those who work illegally." There are many plainclothes stakeouts, but there are also many checks on the portals. A meticulous job that will continue for the 2025 season.

The Municipality, as required by the protocol, provides data, news and information that, when cross-referenced with the information assets of the Guardia di Finanza, allow the Corps to identify any anomalies to be subjected to control . "We must enforce the rules", explains the mayor. Over the years we have noticed a misalignment between the attendance and the tourist tax paid. This is why we have asked to intensify the controls".
