Theft, drug use, and an attempted sexual assault. These are the latest incidents involving several migrants housed in two centers in Cabras: the one for minors on Via Toscana, and the one for adults on Via Tharros.

"All these dangerous individuals, however, were immediately identified and removed from the town thanks to the prompt intervention of law enforcement," Cabras Mayor Andrea Abis emphasizes. "We are doing everything we can to prevent young people with behavioral and delinquent problems from remaining in Cabras. My request remains unchanged: I once again ask for the closure of the juvenile center." Meanwhile, residents' fears are growing. The most serious case occurred last week, on an ARST bus connecting Cabras to Oristano. A migrant attempted to sexually assault a minor from Cabras who was with a friend. The family immediately filed a complaint, and the perpetrator was located and arrested shortly thereafter. Thefts were also reported from cars and a business. A migrant, after a search, was found in possession of drugs.

"I also receive calls from citizens reporting serious incidents, which are then immediately reported to the Carabinieri station in Cabras. And I must say that they are often resolved within a few hours. I express my sympathy to the girl's family. My office door is always open, I can receive her at any time," explains Abis.

The mayor continues to reiterate that the juvenile center on Via Toscana cannot handle individuals with significant behavioral problems. "I understand that a facility can't be closed overnight, but the incidents of the last few days are quite clear and severe. Fortunately, several children have already been transferred to specialized centers. But it's not enough. It needs to be closed."

Opposing city councilor Antonello Manca weighed in on the latest news. Two days ago, he recorded a video from Via Toscana, which he then posted on social media. He recounted the latest news events and asked Mayor Abis to convene a City Council meeting at the migrant center. The mayor's response was clear: "Not a chance. It would be inappropriate and provocative. I prefer the politics of facts, not street shows that only fuel tensions for the sole purpose of cheap political propaganda. The councilor, both because of his role in the city and his role in the province, given that he has only been part of President Pireddu's staff for a few days, would be wise not to discuss sensitive matters on social media involving a minor. And I remind you that when he asks the mayor to intervene, I have already done so."
