Mourning and emotion in Burcei for the passing of Salvatore Monni, 70 years old , one of the greatest enthusiasts and attentive collectors of Campidano poetry competitions.

Having emigrated to Piedmont for work, he loved Sardinia and Burcei, remaining "attached" to their culture, as all emigrants do. But he also accomplished something extraordinary: for 40 years, beginning in the 1980s, he collected over 3,000 recordings of poetry competitions. An extraordinary treasure trove at home, his recordings stored there on the shelves of his studio.

A hymn to the culture of Sardinian improvised singing, curated by Salvatore Monni and his wife Marisa. Father of three and grandfather of two, Salvatore Monni has also passed on his passion for "is cantadas" to two of his sons, Severino and Simone (who has been mayor of Burcei for several years), teaching them the beauty of the art of "su mutetu."
