"Mourning in the Tradition of Burcei" : an exhibition and conference were dedicated to the theme in the town's parish hall. The event attracted considerable attention yesterday, confirming the community's deep attachment to its traditions.

As stated in a press release, "it was not just an exhibition, but a true theatrical performance, thanks to Burcerese artist Lorella Piccioni , who played with chilling intensity a mother mourning her deceased daughter, "Vida": the young woman was alone in her home when a man entered with violent intentions. She managed to escape and save herself, but the fright was so great that her young heart gave way and she died shortly thereafter. " A story of pain, it continues, "which is part of the memory of our community . While sharing the sense of utmost respect that in the past, more than today, characterized mourning, we would also like this aspect of culture and tradition to be known, preserved, and lived without shame, today and tomorrow."

The initiative, by the folk group “A Passu Antigu” from Burcei , was completed by a conference, with the participation of Francesco Cappai, Giuseppe Serra and Gianmarco Porceddu , who recounted and explored the theme of mourning through the traditions, rites and customs of their town.
