An intense emotion: the feast of Saint Barbara of Burcei experienced one of its most powerful moments on Saturday afternoon, filled with faith and prayer.

The event began at 5 pm with the dressing of the Holy Martyr with gold, votive offerings, many roses and a red cloak .

Then came the procession led by the parish priest, Father Cristian Pisu , with the Saint carried on their shoulders to the country church by the Committee and other young people from the cherry-growing town: a group of very young people led this year by Davide Quartu . Also present was the newly elected mayor, Marcello Malloru , wearing the tricolor sash and full of emotion.

Then all together towards the little church of the Saint built exactly one hundred years ago , when the parish priest was Don Raimondo Fresia who inaugurated it on 6 June 1926 , before his transfer to the parish of Uta.

Today, no one was missing: the mayor, the entire festival committee, the shepherds' committee, the magical sound of the launeddas and the accordion of Burcei and Maracalagonis, the folk groups, the Carabinieri in full uniform, the horsemen. There were many, many children, even newborns.

A celebration for everyone, broadcast live on Videolina, hosted by Massimiliano Rais, and featuring interviews with attendees conducted by Alberto Masu and the camera crew, who filmed the event from above using a drone.

A celebration not only for Burcei, but also for its emigrants around the world, and for all the devotees (not only Sardinians) who were able to follow the event from home, including the solemn mass celebrated by Don Pisu in the little church of Santa Barbara.

From 9:45 pm, the musical and folk tradition show in the square, coordinated by Giuliano Marongiu, will be broadcast live on Videolina.

The town festival will continue until June 21st, with masses, more processions, the exchange of flags between this year's and 2027's committees, and also other important events for children, including a grand evening with "I Nomadi."
