The work has started, an excavator has begun operations on the beachAfter months of wrangling, Terna has opened a construction site on the beautiful Rena Bianca beach to repair the strategic high-voltage connection (HVDC interconnection) Sacoi 1.
Terna has asserted its position, including through a ruling by the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR), and has repeatedly emphasized the need for repairs to avoid interruptions to electricity service in Sardinia.
The administrative judges rejected the request of the Municipality of Santa Teresa, which was prepared to impose a two million euro surety bond on Terna.
Work has begun, and an excavator has begun operating on the beach. The Municipality of Santa Teresa wrote : "Despite the agreements reached, Terna has requested the appointment of a commissioner ad acta. This Administration has worked from the beginning to minimize the impact of the work and to protect the beach, but legal obligations do not allow Terna to be prevented from accessing the infrastructure. The Municipality will continue to monitor that the work is carried out in compliance with the established conditions and that the beach is fully restored."
The minority group Oltre le Bocche (Dario Giagoni, Ilaria Battino, and Andrea Pilia) asked Mayor Nadia Matta to explain why the work began in September and asked for a timeline and method of intervention.
