Traffic has been disrupted in Cagliari between Via Porcell, Via Fiume, and Via Anfiteatro for safety reasons. New temporary traffic regulations will come into effect starting Tuesday, March 10, at 8:00 a.m. The City Council's decision stems from the risk of falling debris from buildings, which was posing a risk to public and private safety.
According to the administration's announcement, Via Giovanni Porcell, between Via Ospedale and the parking area reserved for residents, has been closed to traffic and parking. Traffic will also be closed on Via Fiume. Traffic on Via Anfiteatro has also been changed, becoming one-way between Via Ospedale and Via Giussani, with traffic from Via Ospedale toward Via Giussani. Parking will also be prohibited on both sides of the street in the same section, with the exception of the parking area next to the Palazzo delle Scienze.
But the changes to traffic flow don't end there: on Via Porcell, between Via Fiume and the residents' parking lot, two-way traffic will be implemented; those traveling along Via dei Genovesi will have to turn left onto Via Santa Croce, except those accessing the residents' parking lot; those exiting the parking lot next to the Palazzo delle Scienze will have to turn right onto Via Anfiteatro; on Via Fra Nicola da Gesturi, a left turn onto Via Anfiteatro will be mandatory; and a stop sign will be installed at the intersection of Via Anfiteatro and Via Giussani.
The changes will remain in effect until the risk of falling debris from buildings in the area is eliminated. The measure was adopted following the precautionary closure of Via Porcell last Friday, March 6th.
