Backtracking , Brotzu's administrative director is working for free. At least until Arnas figures out whether he can get paid or not.
The pay mix-up over Antonio Guerrieri, a retired Guardia di Finanza soldier who was hospitalized by manager Maurizio Marcias (a Five Star Movement member), emerges from a resolution signed today by the general director himself: it is a "partial rectification" of the appointment dating back to February 4th.
It states that Guerrieri "has a specific status under the Military Code and enjoys the related social security benefits." What this status is is not specified. But he is certainly retired, and it seems to be not based on seniority. If that were the case, the problem would not arise: Guerrieri would not be eligible for emoluments, according to the law.
The resolution states that it is unclear "whether 'retirement' should refer only to cases of old-age and seniority pensions, or vice versa to any social security benefit paid even before reaching retirement age." That is, Guerrieri's case.
While the offices and the law firm searched for a response, the administrative director—also to avoid potential litigation—said he was willing to continue the assignment, but without payment. For two years.
