Brotzu, goodbye to Diabetes: the protest of patients and employees
The demonstration in front of the Department of HealthPatients and employees of the Arnas Brotzu diabetology service in Cagliari do not give up and still make their voices heard. They are calling for a step back on what they call the «service dismantling» , written in black and white on the company's corporate deed. A service that passes through the ASL of Cagliari and could be included in the new clinic that will have to be opened in Quartu», explain the USB representatives who demonstrated this morning under the headquarters of the regional health department in Cagliari.
"We ask that this choice be reviewed - underlines Gianfranco Angioni , of Usb Sanità - which is a political decision: councilor Doria should give concrete answers and restore dignity and respect to the structure, patients and operators, who are in the dark and they don't have correct information because there is no confrontation within the hospital".
The center treats over five thousand patients and "several diagnostic therapeutic pathways have already been set up within the hospital", the demonstrators specify. The service, they point out again, guarantees answers not only to outpatients, but above all to internal ones: "What will happen when a patient arrives at the hospital with a stroke or a heart attack or someone waiting for a transplant?", they ask.
"When it comes to defending the right to health and care, we take to the streets - the conclusion -, even without the political side, which instead should support us: there is no opposition and there are no associations but there are employees and patients and this makes us understand that the choice we are making is the right one".
