Today, in the civil trial regarding the tragedy of 25 December 2017 which cost the lives of Matteo and Francesco Pintor, the expert appointed by the judge, engineer Paolo Marcialis, officially requested the original plans for the curve, the authorisations for the passage and the crash tests of the guard rail in that stretch of the state road 129.
Judge Francesca Lecis invited the parties to comment. Giovanni Pintor, brother of the victims and survivor, who appeared in the case brought by his cousin and driver on the day of the tragedy, Alessandro Satta, reiterated: "We want to see those documents. If they don't exist, it means my brothers died on an unauthorized curve, with substandard barriers."
Anas and the entire maintenance and permit system are under fire: according to the victims' lawyers, the onus is now on the operator to prove the infrastructure's compliance, not the other way around. The case is also supported by ANCI Sardegna, with President Daniela Falconi always maintaining: "This is a battle for justice and safety for all." Meanwhile, the #AdessoBasta! association is calling for the spotlight to remain on: "We're close to the truth. We won't stop."
