Cagliari City Council announces June 2nd long weekend. The mayor has issued an ordinance ordering the closure of municipal offices on Monday, June 1st . This measure is justified by "the need, within the context of a more general reduction in public spending, to adopt measures to reduce energy consumption, particularly during days marked by a significant reduction in the number of staff on duty." Only offices "providing essential public services" will remain open.

Many Cagliari residents, even before the mayor's order, had sensed the bridge risk. If only because they had seen their appointments for electronic ID cards, which had been scheduled for months, "rescheduled," with no way to arrange dates and times .
