The movement ban is the most pressing issue in the bovine dermatitis emergency in Sardinia. A vast area between the center and southeast of the island remains affected by restrictions related to two outbreaks: one still active in Escalaplano and the other in Samugheo , declared closed but still subject to safety measures.

This situation prevents affected farmers from regularly moving their animals and risks having serious consequences for production. This issue was a central focus of the Green Table convened by Agriculture Councilor Francesco Agus with representatives of trade associations.

"To ensure that movement from Sardinia to the rest of the country resumes as quickly as possible," Agus explained, "all the institutions involved have been alerted to resolve a situation that risks penalizing the vast majority of the manufacturing sector."

Other topics were also discussed during the meeting. The allocation of twenty-five million euros was announced to support Sardinian farms facing rising fuel and fertilizer costs, as well as a new €30 million call for proposals for young farmers to set up their first businesses.

The meeting also focused on the implementation of the Rural Development Complement (RDC) for Sardinia 2023-2027 and the calendar of upcoming calls for proposals. "We must align regional planning with European deadlines to avoid losing resources," Agus explained.

The goal, he added, is to "complete the implementation of the 2023-2027 CSR on schedule and, at the same time, begin work on the new programming without carrying over a backlog."

Among the upcoming measures is the call for applications for young people's initial placement in agriculture, which will open on September 15th. The initial allocation is €30 million and, the department explained, may be increased based on the number of applications.

Among the new measures introduced is the possibility of applying the measure to family businesses, responding to a request from trade associations.

The health situation of livestock farms was also discussed during the meeting , with the participation of Stefano Ferreli, Chief of Staff of the Regional Health Department.

Regarding lumpy skin disease, vaccination coverage has reached 94% of farms, while discussions with the Ministry of Health and the European Commission continue to address the restrictions still in place . Bluetongue disease is also at the center of the discussions.
