Bovine dermatitis in the Sarrabus region: herd slaughtered. Fundraising campaign launched: "A family's work destroyed."

The damage caused by lumpy bovine skin disease is once again beginning to be felt by farmers. A herd of around a hundred cattle belonging to one of the outbreaks discovered in Sarrabus will have to be culled, in accordance with regulations, to prevent the spread of the virus.
The axe of health procedures will also fall on a family of farmers who will lose all their animals. To try to help them, a GoFundMe fundraiser promoted by a Muravera entrepreneur has already started.
"There are stories that should never be told like this," writes promoter Giorgio Fanni . "In Feraxi, just a stone's throw from the sea, there was a herd of nearly 200 cows. Splendid, healthy animals, cared for every day with dedication. Anyone who passes by these parts knows it: it was impossible not to notice them. A living, authentic presence, part of the landscape. Behind all this are Antonio, Francesco, and their family. Years of work, sacrifices, entire days spent with these animals."
The Cannas family's life is "a life built step by step. But today, due to a few cases of bovine dermatitis, it became necessary to completely cull the herd. From one day to the next, they will find themselves with nothing. From nearly two hundred animals to nothing. It's not just a huge financial loss. It's also a huge blow for the future: starting over won't be easy, nor quick . This is why this fundraiser was born," Fanni continues, "to give a concrete hand to those who have always worked with dedication and passion. To help a family get back on their feet and start over. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference."
