An €8.8 million package to support farmers affected by bovine dermatitis . Agriculture Councillor Gian Franco Satta announced the news at a meeting held in Calangianus.

The resources will be divided as follows: €1.5 million to the local health authorities to manage the health emergency, €2.3 million to compensate for the culling of affected animals, and €5 million to Laore to support businesses affected by the movement ban .

"No farmer will be left alone. With immediate resources, fair compensation, and ongoing dialogue with trade associations, we can address the emergency and build a solid foundation for the future of Sardinian livestock farming," the councilor stated. Compensation assessments for culled animals, it is specified, will be based on updated market parameters.

Regarding vaccines, rapid and mass vaccination with the attenuated Neethling vaccine has been confirmed, "recommended by scientific studies and the Ministry of Health as safe and effective." Monitoring is already underway to determine any side effects of the vaccination . "With the vaccines, cattle will experience a reduction in milk production for four months, but other side effects should not be that significant," Councilor Armando Bartolazzi told the Regional Council in recent days. Concrete data should come from the ongoing monitoring at the Foresta Burgos farm managed by Agris, where 400 animals have already been vaccinated in recent days .
