Umbrellas, chairs, and other beach equipment left on the shore to illegally occupy portions of the public beach and "keep their place." This is what staff from the Bosa Maritime District Office found today, carrying out a clearing operation to return several stretches of unauthorized beach to the community.

The intervention was ordered to enforce the ban on occupying state-owned spaces with unused and unattended beach equipment, a practice that impedes free use of the beach and constitutes unauthorized occupation of public maritime property, in violation of the Navigation Code. This behavior is also expressly prohibited by the Sardinia Region's Beach Safety Ordinance, which regulates the use of public maritime property and protects the principle of free and unrestricted use of beaches.

During the inspections, the military confirmed a permanent occupation of large portions of the beach. At the end of the operation, approximately fifty pieces of beach equipment were seized.

The Coast Guard emphasizes that the operation is part of its surveillance efforts to ensure compliance with the law, proper use of public maritime property, and the protection of citizens' rights. Inspections will continue along the entire coastline under the jurisdiction of the Bosa Maritime District Office as part of the "Sea and Lakes Safe 2026" operation, aimed at ensuring safe navigation and everyone's right to freely and safely enjoy the sea and beaches.
