Almost two and a half quintals: 231 kg to be precise.

It is the "certified" weight of a tuna caught by a fishing boat off the coast of Bosa, in the night between Monday and Tuesday.

This was made known by the Port Authority, which supervised the legal obligations upon the return of the fishing vessel, which took place on Monday afternoon.

«The motor fishing vessel, which left at 3:12 in the morning for its daily activity, returned to the port in the early afternoon after having captured, with a system called longline, a 231 kilo tuna», we read in a note.

«Waiting for him on the dock – continues the Harbor Office – are the staff of the Coast Guard of Bosa, for the

verification of the obligations related to the capture of the fish species in question".

In fact, according to the rules, the landing and transshipment operations and also the activities connected to the taking of swordfish, bluefin tuna and albacore tuna coming from both professional and sport fishing and also in the case of by-catches or accidental catches must be communicated to the local coastal authority.

«Specifically - explains the Harbor Office - at least 4 hours before entering the port the Commander of the fishing vessel must communicate to the Operations Room of the local Maritime Authority the expected arrival time, the areas in which the catches were made and the estimated quantity ».

This was the case with the fishing boat. And, as mentioned, when the tuna was placed on the scale, the display rose and stopped at the considerable weight of 231 kilograms.
