A serious act of intimidation was carried out overnight in the center of Bortigali. The Fiat Punto of majority city councilor Tonio Floris, 61, an employee of a local business, was set on fire and destroyed. The fire also engulfed another car belonging to the councilor's family.

The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Via Grazia Deledda, near the former slaughterhouse, where the target of the intimidation lives with his family. Local firefighters and Carabinieri, along with those from the Macomer company, responded to the scene.

Floris is part of the outgoing majority, led by Mayor Francesco Caggiari. The mayor himself expressed the solidarity of the municipal administration and the entire city council. The Carabinieri are examining surveillance footage to identify those responsible for the attack.

Tonio Floris is considered a quiet man, thus far removed from political turmoil, even though he's part of the ruling majority. What happened has shaken the entire, peaceful town.
