Rubble and pieces of bricks broke away from the overpass and ended up on the railway below, along the Cagliari-Golfo Aranci line.
A security alert has been raised in Borore, where the Province of Nuoro has ordered the temporary closure of the bridge on provincial road 66 to vehicular and pedestrian traffic , following the structural problems reported by RFI.
Of concern are the concrete detachments from the side curbs of some beams and the presence of damaged brickwork in the lower section of the overpass, with loose material. Added to these critical issues is the condition of the side barriers, deemed inadequate to ensure safety standards.
Provincial Ordinance No. 4689 of October 8, 2026, has been in effect since this morning, Friday, October 9, and affects the stretch of road between Viale Sardegna and the intersection with Via Cimitero . The 24-hour traffic ban will remain in effect until the restoration and safety measures are completed.
"The closure of the overpass is a necessary and responsible action, taken exclusively to ensure the safety of road users," explains Franco Solinas, provincial councilor responsible for traffic. "The protection of public safety must necessarily prevail."
The measure affects an important connection between Borore and nearby towns, including Sedilo and Aidomaggiore . To limit disruption, an alternative route for vehicles has been identified along Provincial Road 33, with access from Via Roma and use of the connecting ramp towards Sedilo and vice versa. This morning, access to the overpass was closed and signage installed. The Province is conducting technical investigations to identify the necessary interventions and restore safety conditions as quickly as possible.
