The mayor-doctor of Bonorva, Massimo D'Agostino, forced once again to keep his coat on and extend his healthcare service for the good of his community.
No one has responded to yet another call for applications for a general practitioner position. The mayor's position will end on Saturday, April 11th, while the Local Health Authority (ASL) must complete some administrative procedures during the week of April 13th to 17th, meaning the clinic will be closed. This means the mayor will not be able to write any prescriptions, and prescriptions via WhatsApp, email, and phone will also be suspended.
"My new role will begin on Monday, April 20th, in the same clinic and with the same hours," D'Agostino specifies. Therefore, from that day on, the medical practice will also resume normal operations. "For urgent needs, the real ones, you know how to reach me," D'Agostino emphasizes, reassuring his patients that he is ready to fulfill a dual role with commitment and sacrifice so as not to leave the community without healthcare coverage, preventing many, especially the elderly and vulnerable, from moving to other locations to ensure their right to healthcare is respected.
