The alleged perpetrators of the theft on March 12 of a Land Rover Defender owned by the Municipality of Bitti and used by the local Barracellare Company have been identified and charged.

Surveillance cameras allowed the Carabinieri to identify the two men, who each had a criminal record for property crimes. During the searches, they also found the carnival mask used by one of the perpetrators shortly before the theft.

The cameras also allowed the alleged perpetrator of another incident to be reported: the fire of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta on March 8th on Via Brigata Sassari, which killed a 30-year-old local woman. The flames, which had caused extensive damage to the vehicle, were extinguished by the Nuoro Fire Department, who immediately identified the cause as arson.

The Carabinieri discovered that it was the man, with a criminal record, who had set fire to the vehicle after dousing it with flammable liquid: all after a very trivial argument.
