Just hours after the announcement by Barbara Porru, now former president of CACIP, the Assembly of the Provincial Industrial Consortium of Cagliari elected Beniamino Garau, mayor of Capoterra, to lead the organization. Garau succeeds Porru, who communicated his decision in a letter sent to the Board of Directors, the Regional President, and the Department of Industry, effectively preempting the motion of no confidence filed by three mayors who are members of the Board of Directors.

The new president of CACIP demonstrates his clear vision for the Consortium's revitalization, which is being called upon to address the challenging times facing Cagliari's industrial sector: "The priority will be to break down political divisions within both the Board of Directors and the Assembly of Mayors. The Consortium's member municipalities will work together to revitalize the Cagliari metropolitan area. Dialogue and participation must return to the center of the region's industrial policy; each stakeholder must feel a stake in the process we will undertake. There is an urgent need to return to important issues such as the situation of the subsidiaries, the problems facing the entire industrial area, the disputes in the manufacturing sector, and revitalizing the Consortium's role in the Cagliari Free Zone."

At the end of the summit, from which he emerged as president, Beniamino Garau visited the Consortium offices for an initial meeting with the staff: "I wanted to introduce myself to each employee. Their contribution will be crucial in addressing the challenges ahead. They will find all the cooperation they need from me."

Garau would like to thank outgoing President Barbara Porru for her work over the past four years at the helm of the Cagliari Industrial Consortium: "Her term has been marked by challenging times. Together, we have faced many challenges. I would like to thank her, on behalf of myself and the other members of the Board of Directors, for her commitment over these years."
