An accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. today in the Monte Colcau neighborhood of Baunei. A man, while doing housework, sustained a serious injury to his left calf while using a reciprocating saw.

According to what has been learned, the gentleman, originally from Ogliastra but emigrated to Lombardy, was cutting up an old washing machine.

The alarm was raised immediately, and help was dispatched from the 118 operations center in Sassari. Echo Lima 1, an Areus helicopter that had taken off from its Olbia base, landed on the scene. The injured man was transported to the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro.
