A 52-year-old man from Terralba, Giovanni Battista Manis, was sentenced to four months in prison today in court in Sassari. He is accused of the murder of Claudio Manca, who was discovered dead in the village at the end of September. The alleged incident dates back to June 28, 2025, when the businessman was arrested by police officers at a bar near the city market. There was a brawl that allegedly involved Manis, who was found holding a broken bottle while confronting other patrons. At the time, he allegedly claimed to have a gun with him, a claim that later proved false.

When taken away by police, the 52-year-old had been so uncooperative that he was taken to the police station, where he continued to utter offensive words toward law enforcement. The charges against him, represented by lawyer Andrea Piroddi, were resisting a public official and aggravated menacing, and prosecutor Ilaria Achenza had requested a ten-month sentence.

Judge Silvia Masala handed down a four-month sentence, and only for resisting arrest, while acquitting Manis on the other charge.
