Some believe it's a prank, a way to let the city know they don't appreciate the decision to close that stretch of road to cars. In Baratili San Pietro, a few days ago, someone spray-painted four flower boxes on Via dello Sport, a street recently made pedestrian-only and lined with primary and secondary schools and the entrance to the gym.

The vandals left their mark, writing unpleasant phrases just as the town was celebrating. They attacked on Saturday evening, when the town administrators and many residents were attending a community dinner organized by the "Ideando" association: a fun-filled evening for everyone to enjoy, which was a resounding success.

When the damage was reported, it was just after midnight and dinner was just finishing. "The stretch of road was open to traffic until a few days ago," explains Deputy Mayor Giannantonio Madau. " This coincidence suggests the incident is related . We're still speculating, but it seems to me to be an act of opposition to the closure of the road, which we have converted into a pedestrian zone. We don't think it's causing any inconvenience."

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the cameras present may be used to identify the perpetrator.
