Orange alert in the Oristano area and central Sardinia, yellow for all other areas: the risk is hydrogeological. Increased strong winds with gale force and storm surges, especially on the western coasts.
The bad weather is offering little respite in Sardinia, and the Civil Protection Department has issued a new bulletin for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, which will also be valid for the following day.
"A low pressure system moving from the Gulf of Lion toward the Gulf of Liguria will cause an initial intensification of southwesterly winds in the early hours of tomorrow," the documents attached to the warning read. During the evening, "a second, deeper low pressure system will move from the Sardinian Sea toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, causing further intensification of winds until the afternoon of Thursday the 29th. From the early hours of Wednesday until Thursday afternoon , strong westerly winds are expected across Sardinia, with local and temporary reinforcements to storm force along the western coasts and mountains. Furthermore," the warning continues, "for tomorrow , westerly and southwesterly storm surges are possible on exposed western coasts, with significant wave heights exceeding 4 meters and average wave periods around 8 seconds."
On the precipitation front, we will have to deal with "cloudy skies with scattered precipitation, including showers or isolated thunderstorms, with locally moderate cumulative amounts, in the morning".
Scattered or widespread precipitation from the evening, starting in the western sectors and extending eastward, with moderate cumulative amounts. Snowfall possible above 1200 meters in the evening.
