On November 29th and 30th, Autumn in Barbagia stops in Gadoni and Oniferi . A weekend that combines the monumental landscapes of Flumendosa with the millennia-old remains of Nuragic archaeology , offering visitors two different yet complementary perspectives on the area's history. The calendar of events continues on December 6th, 7th, and 8th in Fonni and concludes on December 13th and 14th with Ortueri and Orune .
Gadoni , prendas de Jerru 2025 – Between the mountains of Sa Scova and Arzanadolu and the cliffs of the Flumendosa valley, Gadoni celebrates the authenticity of its landscapes and its mining history . The program includes the opening of the gas chambers with tastings and crafts , guided tours of the Funtana Raminosa Mine , one of the oldest copper mining and smelting districts in the Nuragic age, exhibitions , itinerant music , and the traditional bonfire . The central moment of the event is the ancient fire ritual “ Is Fraccheras ,” along with “ Is Concas de Mortu ,” which enlivens the town with an evocative tale of rites and symbols.
Oniferi , archaeology, crafts, and the "canto a tenore" (tenor singing) – Oniferi, with over forty nuraghes , numerous domus de janas (domus de janas) , and above all the famous necropolis of Sas Concas , one of the most evocative prehistoric complexes on the island, is one of the towns richest in archaeological evidence in Barbagia. The cortes will host demonstrations of traditional bread-making , ancient domestic techniques such as the " Lessiva " (washing trough), artisanal crafts, and tastings . A space will also be dedicated to the "canto a tenore" ( tenor singing), a very strong element of identity for the community, with reviews , traveling performances , and dedicated meetings, with the participation of local groups and guest ensembles who pay homage to this form of vocalism, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage .
The President of the Nuoro Chamber of Commerce, Agostino Cicalò, emphasizes: "Gadoni and Oniferi illustrate two fundamental dimensions of Barbagia : the power of the landscapes and the depth of its history. In Gadoni , the mining tradition and fire rituals become a living culture ; in Oniferi, the archaeological heritage is intertwined with identity-building expressions such as the canto a tenore , testifying to a millennia-old cultural continuity. It is a wealth that we must continue to enhance as a lever for knowledge and development for the inland communities."
Roberto Cadeddu, President of Aspen (Nuoro Special Economic Promotion Agency), states: "Autumn in Barbagia is above all a journey through communities and their deepest legacies . In Oniferi, visitors encounter a territory that still speaks the language of prehistory , an archaeological landscape intertwined with daily crafts and the traditional "a tenore" singing. In Gadoni , similarly, rites and traditions become a shared experience . It is this dialogue between past and present that makes the circuit so unique and recognizable."
