Hotels, beach resorts, bars, restaurants, parking lots, and tourist services: especially on peak days, there's a risk that rising prices will be compounded by surcharges and increases that could further increase the final bill for families and tourists. For this reason, Codacons is requesting that, in addition to the usual public order checks scheduled for Ferragosto, specific checks be carried out on prices charged to the public in seaside resorts and in areas hosting festivals, events, and demonstrations.

According to Codacons, particular attention must be paid to the correct display of prices, the transparency of any supplements and surcharges, and the correspondence between the advertised rates and those actually applied to consumers.

"Ferragosto cannot be transformed into an opportunity to apply unjustified price increases to exploit increased demand," states Codacons. "Public order controls must be accompanied by price controls, especially in seaside resorts and areas where events and demonstrations will be concentrated, intervening in cases of irregularities or unfair commercial practices."

Finally, Codacons urges consumers to always check prices before purchasing goods or services, verify any additional costs, and retain receipts, reporting any unusual or opaque situations to the relevant authorities and the association.
