He had removed the security devices from some items of clothing, worth around 100 euros, and then hid them inside a backpack. But the attempted theft was unsuccessful for the twenty-two-year-old of Tunisian origin, who was immediately tracked down and arrested in flagrante delicto for the crime of aggravated theft . It happened yesterday evening in the Carrefour shopping centre in Quartu Sant'Elena, with the intervention of the Carabinieri of Monserrato.

The young man, homeless and already known to the police for previous property crimes, was trying to leave the store at the time of the attempted theft: he had passed the anti-shoplifting barriers, without paying for the clothes . His movements had however aroused the suspicion of the security personnel, who alerted the carabinieri. Once found, the goods were returned to the shopping center.

The arrested man spent the night in a cell in the Carabinieri station in Monserrato, where he was taken for identification. He is now before the judge for the summary trial and is awaiting the measures against him .
