Giovanni Maninchedda, the Sassari resident accused of the attempted murder of Luca Silanos, who was shot in Predda Niedda, Sassari, on January 19, has been released from prison. The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Antonio Spanu, and Judges Massimo Zaniboni and Paolo Bulla, ordered his immediate release today and house arrest with the use of an electronic bracelet.

The judges made this decision after an appeal filed by defense attorneys Patrizio Rovelli and Danilo Mattana. Four months ago, at Maninchedda's used car dealership on Strada 23, the 43-year-old was shot in the femur. Silanos was struck as he approached the business despite, according to preliminary investigations, having been told to move away. Maninchedda disappeared for nearly two weeks, finally turning himself in at the Carabinieri station, where he provided the coordinates for the recovery of the gun.
