Two trials before the judges of the Tempio Tribunal and one passage in the Supreme Court, in all 16 years of hearings. The case of the Monti businessman, Antonello Chessa, ended this evening with a sentence that clears him of the charge of attempted murder. The sentence is from the Tempio judges who accepted the thesis of Chessa's defense, the criminal lawyer Giampaolo Murrighile.
The man was accused of stabbing a 45-year-old man from Olbia after an argument inside a bar in Monti. The facts date back to July 2008, Chessa was also accused of being a fugitive.
The businessman has always denied having hit the victim to kill her and running away. The judges agreed with the defense, after several hours of argument. The Tempio Court (panel presided over by Caterina Interlandi) excluded the crime of attempted murder, downgrading the charges to injuries, therefore the statute of limitations was declared.
