The arrest of the 53-year-old farmer who attacked a 52-year-old man with a hoe (and not a billhook as initially reported) on the evening of August 14 in the countryside of Meana Sardo has been validated.
The charge he faces is attempted murder , and during the validation hearing the judicial authority ordered his remand in prison.
The investigations into the incident, coordinated by the Oristano Prosecutor's Office, are being conducted by the Carabinieri of Meana Sardo and the military
of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Tonara Company.
The men of the Arma are still trying to ascertain the reasons behind the attack, which took place in the area of Iscari, where both men have properties. The hypothesis is that of disagreements of a personal and family nature.
According to the reconstruction of the facts, the attacker allegedly attacked the victim, hitting her in the back with a farm tool. Despite his injuries, the 52-year-old managed to get behind the wheel of his car and reach other farmers to ask for help.
Transported by helicopter, in red code, to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, the man was admitted to intensive care and subsequently transported to Businco, in thoracic surgery, where he is still. He is currently in stable conditions but is not thought to be in danger of life, despite the severity of the injuries he suffered.
The attacker, however, had been tracked down on his property and had been put in handcuffs. Now the judge's decision to transfer him to prison.
